Preserved Lemon Sauce
Remember the preserved lemon recipe I posted here on the Daughter Jean blog and YouTube about a month ago? Well, as promised, I am dishing out the recipes in order for you to use those wise lemons. If you do not have any preserved lemons there is no need to fret. You can purchase them on Amazon or at a specialty food store. Amazon has everything right?
This sauce can be used as a condiment on chicken, lamb, fish, and even vegetables. It is also extremely delicious used as a dressing on a salad. It is creamy, light, and has the natural brightness normally associated with lemons. The added element is the unique taste of the preserved lemons that is still bright but also slightly umami or savory. This is one of my favorite sauces now and obviously a staple in my kitchen. Another good thing about this sauce is how easy it is to make and it does not require a lot of ingredients. Try it out. Thank me later!
Preserved Lemon Sauce
Yield: 1 cup
1 preserved lemon, rinsed and seeds removed
1/3 cup olive oil
1/4 cup water
2 tbsp + 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup + 1 tsp honey
1 small or half of a large garlic clove
Puree in a high speed blender until creamy and smooth. Add more water if the consistency is too thick.
Optional: Strain with a fine mesh strainer.
Enjoy!
