Hot Cocoa

Hot Chocolate (Dairy-Free) | Daughter Jean

A mug of delicious hot cocoa on a cold day is so comforting and soothing. It’s warm, rich, chocolatey, and insanely good! This recipe works for those of you that consume dairy but it can also be used to make vegan/non-dairy free hot cocoa. It is a very easy recipe but definitely memorable. I crave it too often and this recipe is a staple in our home! I hope you give it a try because I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I do.

Ingredients

Almond milk: All of my recipes are non-dairy. However, this recipe works wonderfully with regular dairy milk as well.

Cocoa Powder: Unsweetened

Sugar: The sugar amount can be adjusted to fit your preferred sweetness. Also, feel free to use stevia if needed.

Salt

Vanilla Extract or Paste : The vanilla flavor compliments and enhances the chocolate flavor

Method

Mix | Add the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt into your pot followed by the milk. Whisk thoroughly to combine all ingredients.

Heat | Heat the cocoa mixture over medium low but not boiling until hot and steamy.

Serve | Pour the hot cocoa into mugs. Serve while hot alone, with marshmallows, and/or whip cream.
